"Diamonds and the Island" woven patched repurposed denim Levi's 501 jeans (small (approx. size 4—see measurements); one-of-a-kind)

  • one-of-a-kind woven art inlay patched denim Levi's jeans. 3 handwoven patches were handwoven by artist Nicole Jo Melton. This piece is one-of-a-kind. The patches are sewn on Levi's 501xx denim jeans that have been repurposed and given a new life with art. The patchwork is roll-hemmed and double-stitched before being handsewn on with blanket stitch.
  • the patches were part of a cloth that was hand-woven on a wooden floor loom
  • Overall approx. dimensions (taken while flat (please multiple by 2 for circumference (if applicable))):
    Waist: 14.5"
    Rise: 11"
    Inseam: 29"
    Leg opening: 7.5"
  • (these jeans are repurposed Levi's denim 501xx jeans (made in USA) which are a marked size 30x33; as brands' sizes may vary (and the piece has been washed and previously shrunk, so please follow the listed measurements and not the marked size for the most accurate fit), we recommend you measure a similar garment that fits well and compare to the flat listed sizes marked above)
  • There are no noticeable rips or tears, but there could be a small spot here or there that we may have missed. We chose to leave the original tags in the garment, but you may wish to cut them out.
  • Materials include: cotton, wool, hand-spun yarn, mixed fibers, repurposed denim jeans (listed back tag reads 100% cotton). Organic cotton soft printed Knot & Splice tag is sewn inside with gold thread to compliment the jeans' stitching.
  • All cut sides of the patches have rolled double-stitched hems
  • The patch pieces have been made in a freestyle form of artful weaving that is not from a pattern or plan, but from the artist's soul. The process of dressing the loom (preparing it for weaving) alone is done over the course of two or three days.
This piece was worked on over time as the weaving was completed first, the sourcing of the jeans next, and the stitch work completed last.
  • There will never be a piece exactly like the one you are purchasing. Due to Nicole Jo Melton's process, each piece is a collectible work of art, and is truly one of a kind.
  • Care: dry clean only; you may spot clean with room temperature water and a very mild soap. This piece should never be laundered in a washer or drier as it will most likely ruin the garment (patches).
  • This piece will come with a hang tag including a list of materials and care instructions (perfect for gift giving)
  • Ready-to-ship—shipping is only calculated for U.S. mailing addresses (please purchase insurance in the shop for your item). You will receive the exact one-of-a-kind pictured piece. For international purchasing/shipping of this item, please inquire at knotandsplice@gmail.com. Please see our FAQ/Policies page for current processing times and other pertinent information.

This item is a one-of-a-kind artwork that must be wrapped and folded for shipment. This piece may need to be fluffed out slightly (you may very gently press with an iron on the lowest setting (I recommend placing a cotton cloth in between the garment and the iron to protect it, as well).

Please note: Although every effort has been made to represent this piece with the correct coloration, colors may vary greatly on different digital displays. Please keep an open mind about the coloration of this one-of-a-kind piece, as artwork typically appears richer, and more beautiful in-person.
